What Ame did at the end of "Wolf Children" was very frustrating I'm sure for a lot of people, however I understand to an extent. His mother loved him so much, partially in which because he was part of his father, and she didn't want to let that go, and he knew it. However, he knew she had to let him go some day, and she did as well. So as heartbreaking as it was, he did what he knew he had to do, but I know he'll always love his mother, because he knows how much she went through for him and his sister.
